Since 2017, Together for the Med has brought together 46 organisations through 15 projects to reduce fishing pressure on marine biodiversity in the Mediterranean sea. Amongst this network are NGOs, International Organisations, research centres, private companies, networks or foundations. LIFE is a proud member of this alliance committed to reducing the pressures on Mediterranean biodiversity. We work together to bring fisheries sustainability, reduce their impact on seagrass meadows and coralligenous habitats, reduce the accidental bycatch of cetaceans, seabirds, sea turtles and sharks, or reduce the negative interactions between fishers and marine mammals. A documentary showcasing the story of this alliance is now accessible online. It spotlights the endeavours of three everyday heroes united by a common purpose: safeguarding the Mediterranean. Meet Yassine, a Tunisian diver and oceanographer; Nicole, a dedicated scientist aiding Greek fishers; and Isaac, an advocate for sustainable fishing along the Catalan coast in Spain, who also proudly belongs to the LIFE network. These unsung heroes serve as a remarkable source of inspiration, and the breathtaking landscapes they operate in beckon to the adventurous traveler.
