Loi sur les océans, appel à contribution - position de LIFE
LIFE has submitted its input to the European Commission’s Call for Evidence on the forthcoming European Ocean Act, a key initiative under the European Ocean Pact and planned for adoption in 2026. Through this contribution, LIFE calls for small-scale fisheries (SSFs) to be placed at the core of EU maritime governance—recognising their vital role in sustaining coastal communities, protecting marine ecosystems, and delivering on social, environmental, and climate objectives.
The Ocean Act will strengthen coordination across EU ocean policies, build on the revision of the Maritime Spatial Planning Directive (Directive 2014/89/EU), improve governance of the European Ocean Observation System, and streamline reporting obligations to reduce administrative burden.
