\"\"Itali\u00eb, maart <\/strong>4de, 2021 -<\/strong> Foodnected, een nieuw project ter bevordering van de overgang naar duurzame en eerlijke voedselsystemen in het Middellandse Zeegebied, wordt op 10 maart gelanceerd tijdens een virtueel evenement als onderdeel van het internationale festival Terra Madre Salone del Gusto, zo maakten projectpartners Slow Food, Global Footprint Network, Low Impact Fishers of Europe (LIFE) en GOB Menorca vandaag bekend.<\/p>\n

\"Nadat we er jarenlang naar hebben gestreefd om het belang van educatie te benadrukken en consumenten bewuster te maken van de waarde van hun voedsel en hun band met de mensen die het produceren, zijn we verheugd om samen te werken met organisaties op het gebied van duurzame visserij en landbouw om vooruitgang te boeken naar een wereld waarin alle actoren samen kunnen komen door middel van gemeenschappelijke initiatieven om elkaars leven te verbeteren door middel van een essentieel aspect van wat het betekent om mens te zijn: het voedsel dat we kiezen om te consumeren om niet alleen ons lichaam te voeden, maar ook onze geesten en gemeenschappen te voeden,\" zei Paula Barbeito, Foodnected-co\u00f6rdinator bij Slow Food.<\/p>\n

Foodnected, gefinancierd door de MAVA Foundation voor een periode van twee jaar, gaat over \"het verbinden van mens en natuur rond lokale, eerlijke en duurzame voedselsystemen\". De visie is om producenten en consumenten samen te brengen door middel van een Community of Practice, gebaseerd op gedeelde waarden. Door de afstand tussen producenten en consumenten te verkleinen en een ethische code van milieu- en sociale waarden te ontwikkelen voor de manier waarop voedsel wordt geproduceerd en geconsumeerd, zal het project tekortkomingen in het heersende marktsysteem aanpakken en de oneerlijke situatie waarmee kleinschalige producenten te maken hebben, omkeren.<\/p>\n

\"\"\"Eerlijke toegang krijgen tot hulpbronnen en markten is een fundamentele strijd voor kleinschalige vissers met een lage impact, die het grootste deel van de Europese vloot uitmaken. Wij geloven dat samenwerking met anderen essentieel is om een positieve en zinvolle verandering in onze voedselsystemen te bewerkstelligen. Om levensvatbaar te zijn, moeten vissers beloond worden voor de waarde die ze toevoegen door hun goede praktijken. Aan de andere kant moeten consumenten duurzame, gezonde en eerlijke producten gemakkelijk kunnen herkennen en hun verhaal kennen, zodat ze ze kunnen waarderen en selecteren,\" aldus Brian O'Riordan, uitvoerend secretaris van LIFE.<\/p>\n
