Zij hebben van nature een groot aanpassingsvermogen, wat van cruciaal belang is om de gevolgen van ecologische en economische veranderingen te verzachten. Hun veelzijdige bijdrage aan een gezonde, productieve en veerkrachtige Middellandse Zee wordt echter onvoldoende erkend door beleidsmakers en consumenten. Zij ondervinden op de markt concurrentie van grootschalige visserijproducten, buitenlandse invoer en aquacultuurproducten. Er wordt te weinig onderscheid gemaakt tussen producten van verschillende herkomst, kwaliteit, vistuig en sociaaleconomische gevolgen voor de producenten, met inbegrip van hun werkgelegenheid en welzijn.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Er zijn instrumenten nodig om de markt meer aan te zetten tot het toekennen van goede praktijken, idealiter in een transnationale context. Dit project wil bijdragen tot een meer bewuste, duurzame en verfijnde markt voor visserijproducten die de rol van de kleinschalige visserij in landen aan de Middellandse Zee naar waarde schat. Het project zal een haalbaarheidsstudie ontwikkelen voor een etiketterings- of andere marktregeling, waarbij erkenning wordt verleend aan producten van kleinschalige vissers die deugdelijke regiospecifieke ecologische en sociaaleconomische beginselen in acht nemen en toepassen.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Het consortium bestaat uit zeven personen van onderzoeks-, niet-gouvernementele en vissersorganisaties, en een adviesbureau, en bestrijkt gebieden van visserij- en mariene wetenschap, juridische en bestuursaspecten, en sociale, culturele en economische factoren in geselecteerde BlueMed-lidstaten en Libanon.
