Este planteamiento se basa en una l\u00f3gica medioambiental y econ\u00f3mica s\u00f3lida: utilizando las artes adecuadas, en el lugar adecuado y en el momento oportuno, los pescadores artesanales de bajo impacto pueden realizar capturas estacionalmente diversas, dentro de la capacidad de crecimiento y reproducci\u00f3n de las poblaciones de peces, al tiempo que obtienen un precio justo por su pescado.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span lang=\"en-GB\">Como creadores de precios, pueden beneficiarse del valor que a\u00f1aden a sus capturas: proporcionando una captura diaria de pescado fresco de alta calidad, de temporada, capturado localmente, utilizando m\u00e9todos tradicionales y manteniendo un rico patrimonio cultural. Merece la pena invertir en todo ello pagando un precio justo directamente a los pescadores.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span lang=\"en-GB\">La l\u00f3gica de la pesca artesanal de bajo impacto y escaso volumen contrasta notablemente con la pesca m\u00e1s intensa, de alto impacto y gran volumen. Estos \u00faltimos ganan dinero con el volumen y no con el valor. Dependen de la captura de varias toneladas de pescado al d\u00eda y de la venta a mercados masivos, donde pueden permitirse el lujo de aceptar precios. Los elevados vol\u00famenes de pescado capturados por este sector tienen un efecto depresivo sobre los precios de mercado y, si no se gestionan adecuadamente, un efecto depresivo sobre las poblaciones de peces.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span lang=\"en-GB\">La mayor\u00eda de los consumidores europeos eligieron la opci\u00f3n de gran volumen y escaso valor, comprando su pescado en supermercados, prefiriendo el pescado congelado al fresco, las importaciones (70%) al pescado capturado localmente (30%), y 5 especies principales -at\u00fan, salm\u00f3n, bacalao, abadejo de Alaska y gambas- por encima de todas las dem\u00e1s, confiando en unas cadenas de suministro que consumen mucha energ\u00eda, derrochan dinero y act\u00faan justo a tiempo.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span lang=\"en-GB\">Hace dos semanas, la naturaleza perversa de la pesca intensiva de gran volumen sali\u00f3 a la luz en forma de una captura extraordinaria realizada por el pesquero War Raog IV. Registrado en Francia, el buque es en realidad propiedad de la multinacional holandesa Cornelis Vrolijk, miembro de la Pelagic Freezer Trawler Association (PFA), propietaria de algunos de los buques pesqueros de gran volumen m\u00e1s grandes, potentes y eficientes del mundo. Los costes econ\u00f3micos de mantenimiento de tales buques les obligan a seguir pescando, con una l\u00f3gica econ\u00f3mica basada en hacer su agosto, obteniendo beneficios anuales de millones de euros.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span lang=\"en-GB\">El War Roag IV es un cerquero de 17 metros, con una capacidad de bodega de unas 30 toneladas.
