A principios de este a\u00f1o, la UE pidi\u00f3 asesoramiento y recomendaciones a las partes interesadas sobre la gesti\u00f3n de la anguila <\/span>despu\u00e9s de El CIEM asesor\u00f3<\/a> <\/span>sobre la poblaci\u00f3n europea de anguilas en noviembre de 2021, recomendando que se detengan las capturas.<\/div>\n

En respuesta a esto, LIFE, junto con sus organizaciones miembros, ha\u00a0particip\u00f3 en el desarrollo de un<\/span> posici\u00f3n conjunta a trav\u00e9s del Consejo Consultivo del Mar B\u00e1ltico<\/a><\/span>\u00a0as\u00ed como la publicaci\u00f3n de nuestro<\/span> propia posici\u00f3n<\/a><\/span> que detalla las medidas\u00a0sobre la mejora del estado de la poblaci\u00f3n de anguilas, manteniendo al mismo tiempo la pesquer\u00eda abierta.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nos centramos en lo que consideramos que son las medidas m\u00e1s eficaces: mejorar la aplicaci\u00f3n del reglamento sobre la anguila y priorizar las restricciones all\u00ed donde la mortalidad de la anguila es mayor. Adem\u00e1s, aplaudimos las medidas adoptadas para combatir el comercio y la pesca ilegal de anguila, que ya han permitido que cientos de millones de angulas no hayan sido cazadas furtivamente desde 2016, y alentamos a que se realicen m\u00e1s esfuerzos.<\/p>\n

Se calcula que la pesca de anguilas adultas en el mar representa 3% de la mortalidad total y LIFE sostiene que hay m\u00e1s beneficios que riesgos en mantener abierta esta parte de la pesquer\u00eda de anguilas.<\/p>\n
